Come to Sarasota and Enjoy the Ride

You may think of motorcycle riders as rough, tough, tattooed guys in leather and chains. You couldn't be more wrong. Sarasota is home to countless riders, 검증사이트 both men and women. Doctors, lawyers, and police officers alike, bikers are truly a different breed. When it comes to generosity and caring, they are unsurpassed.

The majority of riders in Sarasota are baby boomers. Retirement in Sarasota doesn't have to mean sitting in a rocking chair on your lanai and watching the world go by. Riders of all ages live in Sarasota and they share a unique camaraderie.

Every year at Christmastime, Harley Owners Group organizes one of the biggest charity events in Sarasota. The 'Great Teddy Bear Run' is a short motorcycle parade and draws over 1000 motorcycles each year. Each rider pays a nominal fee and brings a toy for a child, sometimes several.

The fee provides lunch, music, and fun at the final destination. Santa Claus leads the parade and motorcycle police escort the parade. This event draws hundreds of people from their homes to line the streets and watch and wave.

Another popular event held in January is a motorcycle festival known as 'Thunder By the Bay' Riders converge on downtown for three days of riding, charity events, food, entertainment, vendors, bike shows, contests and more. Many shopkeepers extend their hours for this fun filled event.

Sarasota is a great central location with beautiful country roads that lead you to small, nearby towns. Arcadia, just 60 miles east, holds their annual rodeo in March. If you miss the rodeo, you can visit the antique shops that line both sides of Main Street. You'll go there just for the relaxing ride.

Myakka is the winter home for the famous Royal Lipizzaner Stallions of Austria. Those beautiful white stallions and their trainers put on an entertaining and educational demonstration. For example, did you know that these horses are not born white? Did you know the stallions have one and only one trainer/rider for their entire life? Between the show and the ride, it is well worth the trip.

Do you prefer a longer ride? Consider a day ride to Tarpon Springs, a small Greek fishing village just north of Clearwater, their primary catch being sponges! Tarpon offers local sponge diving tours, artisans, a museum and the best Greek pastries you'll ever eat!

Wouldn't you rather be riding in January and February rather than looking at your bike parked in the garage and the snow covered roads outside? Don't just dream about it, trailer up that Harley (helmets suggested but not required) and bring it down to Sarasota for some winter fun. You may not want to leave.
