The Sophistication Of Integrated Security Systems
Even as the concept of integrated security has been in existence for many years, many still see this as different and in some ways, too revolutionary. Given this, a certain degree of caution is often observed when it comes to getting various security systems integrated into a single application.
Take the case of the Physical Security Information System (PSIM), software that was developed in 2006 and made available to security experts within the same year. Access Card Swipe The PSIM is largely seen as an integrated security system since this involves a collection of various security processes as well as supporting technologies that work together to provide more effective and comprehensive protection management.
Despite its advanced features and the many benefits that this can provide, the software has yet to reach its peak when it comes to sales volume. In 2009, no more than $100 million was sold in the market. Experts blame this on the persistent belief among consumers that when it comes to effective security management, the integrated approach is still too technologically advanced that the typical security personnel may not be capable of handling.
Yet, the idea of integrating individual security systems has become imperative in recent years. This is mainly because business executives have begun to require more pertinent data that involve the safe operation of their companies. Ostensibly, this can be rather tedious and time-consuming for security people especially when analyzing and compiling information from different and isolated sources.
Thus, the need to integrate security measures was born. Fortunately, the advancements that have been made in the security world have adequately answered that need. The only problem that needs to be addressed is on how to install integrated security systems and have the qualified and competent personnel to operate them.
Generally, such systems are highly sophisticated, and for this, training for the people tasked with security responsibilities may have to be considered. Additionally, experts in security integration may have to be brought in to ensure that the transfer from traditional security management to the integrated version will be smooth and trouble-free. This is especially true in the case of large businesses where as many as a dozen different security devices are installed in various places and operating independently of each other.
In this regard, it should be worth noting that a good number of organizations are still unfamiliar with the basic concept of integrated security and PSIM. Nevertheless, these same companies are aware that they need more improved and advanced security systems but are yet unaware on exactly where these can be obtained.
